Awakening of the Heart – Spring Umrah 2027 with Imam Yasir Khan

Yasir Khan was born and raised in Sacramento County, California, where his parents settled after emigrating from South Asia. He completed his Hifdh of the Quran in 2007 and, the following year, left for South Africa, where he spent seven years at Darul Uloom Zakariyya in Johannesburg, graduating from the Aalim Course in 2014 with certification in Riwayah Hafs ‘an Aasim. His studies covered Tafseer, the major Hadith collections, Hanafi Fiqh, Usul al Fiqh, Arabic language and rhetoric, Aqeedah, and Seerah.

He returned home to Northern California in 2014 and has served as an Imam at Masajid across the region ever since, leading Salah and Jummah, teaching Tafseer and weekly Halaqat, and walking with families through Nikah, Janazah, and the moments in between. Much of his work has centered on Islamic counseling and mentorship: premarital and marital guidance, youth mentoring, substance abuse and mental health support, and one on one spiritual coaching for those trying to rebuild their relationship with Allah SW. Alongside that, he has spent more than a decade in chaplaincy across hospitals, county jails, and juvenile halls, sitting with people during the hardest seasons of their lives. From 2020 to 2024, he served as the first Muslim Chaplain appointed to the California State Legislature.

Over the past decade, he has also led Umrah groups to the Haramain, accompanying travelers from their first Ihram to their farewell Tawaf. That experience shapes how he runs a journey: thorough preparation before departure, clear instruction at every rite, and a scholar who stays present and reachable from the first day to the last.

He speaks English, Urdu, Punjabi, Gujarati, and Arabic.
